The function of the cooling device
The most widely used bar, continuous small bar mill is the post-rolling residual heat quenching and self-tempering process of bar, also known as QTB or QTR process.The process is a method for obtaining the required structure and performance by using the heat of the rolled piece after the final rolling to pass through a specially set water-passing cooling water tank to accurately control the cooling rate of the rolled piece.This process can replace microalloyed steel and low alloy steel with ordinary low carbon steel, and the rolled parts have high strength, good toughness and weldability, and have been widely used in the production of hot rolled ribbed steel bars in recent years.The steel rebar and wire rod subjected to residual heat quenching can greatly improve the strength index and have great flexibility, that is, the steel bars of the same composition adopt different cooling systems, and can obtain steel bars of different strength levels.
The controlled cooling process for bars consists of three heat treatment stages:
1.Quenching stage. Immediately after leaving the finishing mill, the bar enters a quenching line consisting of several cooling water tanks, and the surface is quenched;
2.Tempering phase. After the bar leaves the water cooling box, the temperature difference of the cross section of the steel bar which has been quenched by water is very large. After the subsequent heat conduction process, the heat of the core gradually spreads to the surface, so that the surface quenched structure is self-tempered;
3.Natural cooling stage. This stage is done on a cold bed.
